Jointly published by IMO and the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), the three-volume International Aeronautical and Maritime Search and Rescue Manual (IAMSAR) provides guidelines for a common aviation and maritime approach to organizing and providing search and rescue (SAR) services. Each volume can be used as a stand-alone document or, in conjunction with the other two volumes, as a means to attain a full view of the SAR system. The three volumes (sold separately) of this edition of the IAMSAR Manual come into force on 1 June 2022.
Volume III: the Mobile Facilities volume is intended to be carried on board rescue units, aircraft and vessels to help with the performance of a search, rescue or on-scene coordinator function and with aspects of search and rescue that pertain to their own emergencies. The Action Cards contained in Volume III are also available to purchase separately in English.
